Summer Program

The focus of the Douglas Fourth of July Committee events have always been on children and community coming together to celebrate 4th of July in Douglas, Alaska.

June 14 ~ Flag Day Decorate to Celebrate

Douglas property owners are encouraged to decorate their property in Red, White & Blue colors, bunting, banners, flags, flowers, party lights & 5:00 PM for judging. We ask them to leave the decorations through Independence Day, July 4th.

June - July ~ 4th of July Soapbox Derby

4th of July Soapbox Derby awards have arrived!

Who will be the lucky winner of each of these trophies?

Kits available Don Abel Building Supply & Rental and build time is available at Juneau Makerspace on Saturday 6/10, 6/17, and 6/14 from 10am-1pm (BYOW - bring your own wood).

Age ranges are 5-6 years, 7-8 years, and 9-10 years.

Race registration and trials will be on 7/3 at on St. Ann's Avenue from 5pm-8pm and finals are on 7/4 at 3pm (also St. Ann's Avenue). Can't wait to see your builds!


July 1st ~ 4th of July Bike Parade Decorating

Come decorate your bike/trike/scooter or wheelchair for the parade. 

Supplies will be provided ~ just bring your creativity and imagination!

We have a series of fun events to help families start their celebration of Independence Day in Douglas off right and have a little friendly competition.

- Soap Box Derby Car Show -St. Ann's Avenue - 5pm
